Baking Soda to Whiten Teeth

Category : Other

I haven’t tried this yet but my friends say baking soda helps in whitening teeth. How? It removes stains embedded in the surface of the teeth. They said that it water can be placed to about a teaspoon until it become pasty then use it as toothpaste. But my mom said to dissolve it in water and gargle it.

Baking soda helps remove brown stains from my mom’s teeth. I’m about to try it since I have coffee stains and I want it to be gone. This home remedy is cheaper than going to the dentist.

Favorite Sports

I’m not the sporty type and I don’t like P.E. that much back when I was still studying. I hate playing volleyball because my wrists get sore after playing. I just took it as a P.E. back in college because I don’t have a choice. Badminton, basketball, I think I suck at these sports too. But if there’s a sport I want with a chance for me to excel, I think it’s bowling. Why? Because it doesn’t require much physical activities. What I mean by physical activities is I don’t need to run much, heheh. So I was glad that bowling is always included in sports fest in the previous company I’ve worked for.

I want to try golf too but I think that sports is expensive and for the well-offs. Anyway, I wish I had a photo of me while playing bowling.

What to do if a flourescent lamp breaks?

Category : Other

It has been chaotic yesterday. Hubby changed the light in the bathroom because it’s busted already. But he forgot to dispose it properly. He just placed the light to be disposed off on top of the table. DD touched it but good thing it didn’t break so hubby asked the yaya to throw it out. The yaya, having no idea how to dispose it properly, placed it beside the trash bin but as she placed it, we heard a breaking sound! Uh oh! Hubby and I panicked. We hurriedly brought the kids inside the room. The yaya and the helper cleaned up the area and door was left open for four hours last night. The kids can’t even go outside, including me because I breadfeed them. It was a mess, I tell you.

This morning, everything is back to normal. That’s why I can blogged now heheh. I researched of proper disposal of flourescent lamps if it breaks and here’s what I found from here. Just pasting here the information I found:

  • Do not use a vacuum cleaner to clean up the breakage. This will spread the mercury vapor and dust throughout the area and could potentially contaminate the vacuum.
  • Keep people and pets away from the breakage area until the cleanup is complete.
  • Ventilate the area by opening windows, and leave the area for 15 minutes before returning to begin the cleanup. Mercury vapor levels will be lower by then.
  • For maximum protection and if you have them, wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from the sharp glass.
  • Carefully remove the larger pieces and place them in a secure closed container, preferably a glass container with a metal screw top lid and seal like a canning jar. A glass jar with a good seal works best to contain any mercury vapors inside.
  • Next, begin collecting the smaller pieces and dust. You can use two stiff pieces of paper such as index cards or playing cards to scoop up pieces.
  • Pat the area with the sticky side of duct tape, packing tape or masking tape to pick up fine particles. Wipe the area with a wet wipe or damp paper towel to pick up even finer particles.
  • Put all waste and materials into the glass container, including all material used in the cleanup that may have been contaminated with mercury. Label the container as “Universal Waste – broken lamp.”
  • Remove the container with the breakage and cleanup materials from your home. This is particularly important if you do not have a glass container.
  • Continue ventilating the room for several hours.
  • Wash your hands and face.

Philhealth Reimbursement Received

Category : Other, Random Ramblings

After three months of waiting I finally got my Philhealth checque. The reimbursement was sent via Air21 and received it this morning. The amount is 30% of the total hospital bills, which isn’t that bad, since it’s like I got some discounts. The only thing I regret is that I should have got my doctor’s official receipt before I submitted the required documents. Actually, I don’t have plans of submitting it yet, but the employee checking the forms said that it’s OK for submission already even if I don’t have my doctor’s OR.

When I received the details of the reimbursements, there was a note that there’s no doctor’s receipt. I couldn’t complain about it anymore since it was my fault too. I know that the OR is required but I still submitted it. Lesson learned, follow what’s the procedure and submit the required documents together when you have it validated.
